"This hotel is a good 10 minute walk from the train station near the ropeway. Rooms are dated and are standard Japanese size. The bathroom had a high step up into the bathroom and is very small and tight to move around. "We were only staying at the hotel overnight before beginning a long bike trip, but the staff that greeted us absolutely bent over backwards to make sure any question we had was answered, including physically leading us to where we needed to go to reserve our bikes, guiding us through the entire Luggage forwarding process and answering any questions with a smile on their lips and a song in their heart. Of all the hotels I’ve been to in Japan this is the most likely place that I would go back to....
"Our stay at Shiomachi Roya in Tomonoura was one of the highlights of our trip to Japan. I was impressed by the renovations done to turn this old merchant house into an inn. I liked the design and decor. The staff were all very pleasant and helpful. Because this particular house (Roya) has only 4 rooms to stay in, the staff are located at another sister inn literally just around the corner, one minute away.
